Google Working on an Android App to Control a PC Through Chrome

One of the best things about a modern Android phone is that it has so many features and capabilities such that it easily integrates with most other home electronics.? For instance, you can use your Android phone to control your TV. ?Now, imagine if you can use your phone to control your computer?? Google knows just how many people would love to control their computers remotely using their phones and they are working on an app for that.

Chromium

Some time ago, Google demonstrated a new Chrome remote desktop application that enables users to take control of a computer or to hand over the control to someone remotely, for instance when they need help with something.? Since chrome and Android are now under one management after a merger back in March, it shouldn?t have been too difficult for the team to port the application to Android.

This information comes from Fran?ois Beaufort, a Google Chromium evangelist, who dug the open source code of Chromium?and posted an image a screenshot of the installed application on his Android device on his Google+ page.? Fran?ois posted ?the chromium team has just started to build a Chromoting Android app? showing that the app could be available for testing soon.

The app is still in development and is now capable of only a fraction of the tasks including authenticating a Google account on the Android phone, establishing peer-to-peer channels to communicate with the host service, connecting and communication with the service over XMPP/ICE and querying and displaying the host list on the Chromoting directory server.

As of now, the application can only connect with the remote server but it cannot take any user input nor show the host desktop.? This means the app is currently useless, but it is great to know that Google is actually working on such a tool.? This device is expected to work on most Android devices including smartphones and tablets but its size could mean it is better suited for tablets.

We will wait and see how it develops.

Previously they were not allowed to lend at rates below a certain level set by the People's Bank of China.

The People's Bank said it hoped the move would lead to lower costs for companies.

"The People's Bank of China has decided, as of 20 July, 2013, to completely relinquish control of the lending rates of financial institutes," the bank said on its website on Friday.

As of Saturday, institutions will be allowed to "set lending rates themselves based on commercial principles".

The moves will lower financing costs for businesses and support China's long-term economic restructuring, the bank said.

The bank added it would not adjust policies on mortgages in order to promote "healthy development of the housing market".

A BBC correspondent said the announcement is seen as a significant part of the government's plan to make the economy more market-oriented.

President Xi Jinping promised to reform the country's economy to encourage more balanced growth when he came to power in March.

Chinese banks have had some freedom to lend at rates below the official level, but very few do so.

The BBC reports analysts think the move is an important step towards allowing China's currency to float freely on currency markets.

There remains an upper limit on how much interest banks are allowed to offer depositors. It currently stands at 3% with a small amount of leeway to go higher.

The People's Bank said controls on mortgage lending will also remain in place, to maintain the "healthy development of the housing market".

We're all waiting impatiently for season four of HBO series "Game of Thrones." Nothing new about that. What is new is the announcement about two new cast members ? Mark Gatiss and Pedro Pascal ? who will be joining the "GoT" family in season four.?

Casey Lee was born and raised in Indiana, a proud Hoosier. She is currently interning at the Christian Science Monitor under Marjorie Kehe in the Book Section. She's pretty sure this is the best summer ever. Casey is a rising senior at Principia College where she is majoring in Mass Communication and minoring in Spanish. She is also the book reviewer for the school's news paper, Principia Pilot.?

The role of Mark Gatiss, who has had a hand in writing, producing, and acting in "Dr. Who" as well as playing Mycroft in "Sherlock," will be kept a surprise according to Entertainment Weekly. The point of this is probably to drive viewers insane. After all, the books' author, George R.R. Martin, makes a habit of keeping readers on the edge of their seats constantly. Why should it be any different for viewers?

Thanks again to Entertainment Weekly, we do know that Pedro Pascal will be playing Prince Oberyn Martell from Dorne. He is also widely known as The Red Viper. Series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss said that finding someone to play the ?sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likable, yet driven by hate? Red Viper was not exactly a walk in the park. Happily, they have succeeded.

Pedro Pascal is a veteran of TV series such as "Graceland," "Red Widow," and "Nikita" just to name a few. Hopefully, his experience with acting in intense series such as these will have properly prepped? him for portraying a charming and deadly man out for revenge against The Mountain for killing his sister.?

Seeing as Martin has a penchant for killing off his characters, it?s probably a good thing that so many new ones are introduced through out the series. Other characters that Entertainment News says we can look forward to seeing include Mace Tyrell and the Magnar of Thenn.

Season four of? "Game of Thrones" is expected to premier in spring 2014, with a very rough guess of 255 days to go.?

Eastern Indiana boy dies after hit by baseball

The parents of an eight-year-old boy who died on a baseball diamond after being hit by a baseball are calling him a hero.

Erick and Georgiana Williams are asking all parents to hug their children tighter. They say they're determined to make sure their son's legacy lives on after this tragedy on the field.

It could have been anyone's child.

"He just fell to the ground and, I mean, I even yelled at him to get up," remembered Erick Williams, sobbing.

Dylan Williams went to into cardiac arrest after being hit by a baseball at practice on a Union City baseball field.

"He never came to for the time that I tried to get him up. He never came to," Erick said.

Erick was helping coach Dylan, who was part of an All-Star team set to play in a tournament this weekend.

"I couldn't even help, I couldn't help him. One of our dads tried, but nothing we could do," said Erick, recalling how the other father tried to give Dylan CPR.

Wednesday, Dylan's parents took him off life support at Riley Hospital for Children, but not before they donated several of his organs.

"That's what he would have wanted. He's a great kid," said Erick.

The family said doctors had no answers for their questions.

"They're at a loss. They said one-in-10 million or something like that is what the likelihood and they didn't know how to explain it to us. They didn't know," cried Erick.

The Marion County coroner says Williams died of complications of blunt force trauma to the neck.

Still, the family said Dylan wouldn't want his teammates asking such questions, but instead focusing on this weekend's game.

"He would have told 'em, 'You play,'" said Erick with certainty. "He loved baseball."

That's just how Dylan died, doing what he loved.

"He was a wonderful young man. He was a hero and he'll always be a hero and no one will ever forget him. We'll make sure of that," said Erick.

The Williamses said they want other parents to know not to take a second of time with your kids for granted.

"Hug your kids tighter," said Georgiana Williams. "Give 'em kisses and tell 'em you love 'em that much more, 'cause you never know, anything like this could happen in a moment's notice."

The Williamses know. It happened to them.

The Dylan Williams Foundation is being started by Dylan's friends and teammates in his honor at Pacesetter Bank in Union City. Money raised could go for a variety of things, possibly to make sure every baseball field in the area has a portable defibrillator on hand in case of emergencies.

Funeral arrangements for Dylan Williams are still pending.
